Students must complete a total of nine courses or the equivalent of 36 credits in approved coursework. This includes:
One of the core required courses (1 course, 4 credits; recommended before enrolling in further courses for the major)
One course in each of the six geographical and disciplinary areas (6 courses, 24 credits; each course counts for one area only):
continental Africa
the Caribbean and Latin America
the United States and Europe
Cultural Production and Expression
Historical Investigation
Social and Structural Analysis
Two additional courses (2 courses, 8 credits):
An honors study in a related field with approval of the program director (2 courses, 8 credits)
Any course at the 300 level or above in a related field with approval of the program director (1 course, 4 credits) and any other course from the geographical or disciplinary areas listed below (1 course, 4 credits)
Three courses overall need to be at the 300 level or above.
