CHI 412 ADVANCED CHINESE II
This sequel to CHI 411 focuses on advanced composition and style study. Weekly submissions of a 200-character writing assignment—combined with peer online editing—lay the groundwork for a 3,000-character capstone project. This open-resource, writing-intensive workshop relies heavily on discourse analysis and collaborative classroom discussions.
Notes
Native Chinese speakers may fulfill the World Languages and Cultures requirement by completing any two 400-level Chinese courses. Students must study advanced linguistic or cultural topics unfamiliar to them, such as classical or dialectal Chinese, historical literature, or alternative character scripts. Other relevant topics may be selected with departmental approval.
