FYS 1054 WONDERS OF THE HISPANIC WORLD
This course introduces students to the rich and vast treasures of Spain and Latin America. As students explore landmarks such as La Alhambra in Spain, Tikal in Guatemala, and La Plaza de Mayo in Argentina, they will also learn about their historical and cultural significance through literature, art, architecture, music, and cinema. Through virtual tours of museums, a variety of readings from Cervantes to Isabel Allende, and films such as The Motorcycle Diaries, Volver, and Coco, students will be exposed to the complexity and uniqueness of Latin American and Spanish culture.
Notes
This course will be offered in English with a FLAC section in Spanish for students who have completed at least two years of high school Spanish. If students complete the FLAC section, the course may be counted toward the major or minor Hispanic Studies or Latin American and Latino Studies.
