ITL 225 CC: ITALIAN/GLOBAL NEOREALISM

Italian Neorealism (1943 -1952) was a literary, cinematic and artistic movement that arose from the post WWII desire for ethical and social renewal through a raw depiction of reality. The first part of this course focuses on post-WWII Italian Neorealism. The second part explores its influence on later works, especially films, both in Italy and other world locations.

Conducted in English. Course is taught on multiple levels at the same time, and may not be taken on more than one level. Students in the 300-level course are expected to analyze additional secondary readings and write a longer research paper than those enrolled in the 200-level course.

Registration Restrictions

Open to sophomores, juniors, and seniors. First-year students can enroll with permission of the instructor.

Enrollment Limit

Enrollment limited to 18 students.
