AFR 237 INQUIRY IN BLACK

Inquiry in Black is a course designed to explore how peoples of African descent have viewed and interpreted their experiences throughout history and across continents. Essentially, we will be looking at how folks from the African diaspora have both raised and answered questions about the social, political, cultural, and economic experiences of being Black. The course is designed to introduce students to the major thinkers of Africana, while also being able to identify their theories, concepts, and experiences in current research and in current events. This is a transdisciplinary course that largely combines the basic foundation of Africana Studies with Sociology and Education. Other disciplines and areas of study will be incorporated as well.
