THE 252 ACTOR'S CRAFT: THE READING
This two-credit course focuses on the art and craft of the activated reading aloud of theatrical text for audition preparation, "in-house" readings, or public performance. Students will undertake exercises in "cold" (unrehearsed) reading and "warm" (limited rehearsal) reading of monologues, scenes, and full-length plays. The student actors will develop their ability to make strong, detailed, and immediate choices under circumstances with limited time, enhancing their ability to read and prepare efficiently and engage boldly with the given material. Texts will include contemporary, modern and classical works, and will embrace a diverse range of world theater.
