HMD 416 GLOBAL CULTURES AND HUMAN DEV
This course critically examines various approaches to mental health, human development, and psychotherapeutic practices within global cultural contexts. Students will explore how different societies conceptualize early childhood development, well-being, psychological distress, and therapeutic interventions through their unique cultural, historical, and psychological frameworks. The course focuses on decolonial and global perspectives to understanding psychological theories of early childhood, youth and adolescent development, parenting, and family dynamics by engaging with Indigenous knowledge systems, Global South perspectives, and traditional healing and therapeutic approaches and methods.
