HIS 407 INCARCERATED AMERICA

This seminar assesses recent American Studies scholarship that foregrounds themes of confinement and punishment for incarcerated communities in U.S. history. The course highlights how Native Nations, women, gender-diverse individuals, racial and sexual minorities, non-citizens, and more recently, foreign children, encounter, resist, or endure U.S. confinement and incarceration.
