HIS 405 THE POLITICS OF MOTHERHOOD
This global history course examines the politics of motherhood as an institution and an experience. One of the most highly politicized and policed institutions in the modern world, motherhood is an important site of contestation. The course focuses on the state and motherhood; experiences of pregnancy and childbirth; and the economic, moral, and cultural meanings attached to motherhood.
