Empire, Militarism, and Decolonization

This course explores the dynamics of American Empire and its goal to maintain unrivaled power, shape conduct in international affairs, and expand its power through the use of proxies. A key feature of empire, militarism--the overreliance on force to deal with political problems-- will be explored comparatively using the case of the US in Iraq and Afghanistan with Israel's relationship to Palestinians in the Occupied West Bank and Gaza.
