FYS 1092 RISE OF THE MAFIA
This course explores the cultural and historical roots of the Mafia in Italy and its later shift into Italian-American culture. Documentary accounts offer a realistic view of organized crime and its repercussions in Italian societal and political arenas. Using examples from literature, film, and music, the course also considers why romanticized depictions of the Mafia have become a popular mainstay in Italian and American culture.
