This course examines gastronomy in French literature, exploring how representations of food and drink articulate social hierarchies, cultural practices, and aesthetic values.  The course analyzes culinary discourse across historical periods, considering its literary, philosophical, and symbolic dimensions, and its role in shaping identity and social meaning.
