ECO 450 FED CHALLENGE

A course designed to prepare students for the College Fed Challenge, a competition organized by the Federal Reserve Banks for which students have to prepare a presentation on a monetary policy briefing. The course exposes students to macroeconomic and monetary economics concepts with a special emphasis on the conduct of monetary policy. During the semester, students will read articles, write policy briefings, and make policy-oriented presentations.

Since the regional Boston competition takes place in late October, this course is designed as an intensive course in the first half of the fall semester. The course will meet twice a week for 2 hrs and 30 mins each meeting (a total of 5 hours per week) for the first 7 weeks of the semester.

Prerequisite

ECO 112, ECO 206, and ECO 230.
