EAS 321 CHINESE CULTURE IN GAMES
Games have become an essential part of modern life. With technological advancements, game themes have grown more diverse and sophisticated, earning them the title of the “ninth art.” In China, games have long been popular from the Imperial era till nowadays, and in recent years, the growing player base, high demand, and cultural diversity have led to many outstanding game productions. Games not only permeate everyday life but also reflect key aspects of Chinese culture. The rapid development of games in China offers an excellent opportunity to incorporate them as the lens to observing the root, development and the future form of Chinese Culture. This course bridges ancient Chinese civilization with modern society; connects literature, history, and cultural elements together; encourages students to explore Chinese culture; and synthesizes education with entertainment in an interactive learning environment.
