AHI 250 PERSPECTIVES ON PHOTOGRAPHY

A survey of the history and cultural context(s) of photography from its origins to the present day.  The course considers photography as technological invention, artistic medium, social text, and cultural practice.  Through lectures, class discussions, and hands-on workshops, students will explore the production, circulation, and reception of photographic images, and develop skills for looking critically at photographs.
