THE 322 ADV ACTING: THE REALISTS
An advanced scene-study based acting class, with intensive text analysis, rehearsal, and performance of scenes drawn from major European playwrights who sought to recreate realistic human behavior on stage, and modern USA writers who were influenced by them. The course uses the works of Anton Chekhov, Henrik Ibsen, to Lillian Hellman and Eugene O'Neill, and on to contemporary American playwrights. Students will work in a rigorous and supportive creative environment, using non-traditional casting practices, encouraging deep personal commitment to the circumstances and world of the play, while strengthening the actors' instrument - voice, body, and imagination.
