THE 299 ART OF PROTEST

What cause or conviction would move you to build coalitions, protest, or "occupy?" This course asks students to investigate their answers to these provocative questions and to research how others have done so, with a particular focus on the role of art in protest. How can art "translate" a political moment into a political/artistic icon? The course culminates in final projects in which the students will give creative/scholarly voice to their newly found perspectives.
