SPA 453 DESIRE IN SPANISH CINEMA& LIT
This course explores representations of desire in Spanish cinema and literature. It proposes an historical reading of desire in texts such as La casa de Bernarda Alba (Mario Camus, 1987), La flor de mi secreto (Pedro Almodóvar, 1995), and Carmen y Lola (Arantxa Echevarría) that, without diminishing the importance of the individual psychological dimension, focuses on the cultural aspects that condition this universal feeling. Films are in Spanish with English subtitles.
