PHY 406 GENERAL RELATIVITY

An exploration of the physics of spacetime and gravity at extreme scales, as described by Einstein’s theory of General Relativity.  Topics include black holes, the origins and evolution of the Universe, and gravitational waves.  The mathematical concepts used to describe these phenomena, such as tensors, geodesics, and curvature, are introduced as needed over the course of the semester.
