ES 234 S AMER CULTURES & ENVIRONMENT

An exploration of various topics relating to the anthropological literature of South American indigenous cultures.  The course covers the history of European contact, ecology, subsistence, socio-political organization, social justice, and environmental issues.  Emphasis on understanding the diversity of cultures in South America.

This course may include an optional section that will meet for an additional hour each week to discuss supplemental readings in Spanish.  Students participating in the foreign language section will receive an additional credit hour, pass/not passed marking.

Prerequisite

ANT 102 or ANT 104 or ANT 112 or ANT 114; or ES 110 or ES 111; or BOT 115 or BOT 117.
