SEX, GENDER, MODERNISM

An investigation into the mutual implication of formal and sexual deviance in modernist literature, reading key literary works of the early twentieth century alongside contemporary theories of gender and sexuality. Readings may include works by Oscar Wilde, Virginia Woolf, Djuna Barnes, Radclyffe Hall, Nella Larsen, D.H. Lawrence, Willa Cather, Gertrude Stein, Sigmund Freud, and others.
