ULYSSES: ORIGINS TO AFTERLIFE
A sustained encounter with of one of the most celebrated, experimental, joyful, and confounding literary works ever written: James Joyce’s Ulysses. Students will read the novel alongside key source texts (e.g., The Odyssey, Hamlet) and consider its historical impact by attending to its controversial reception and rich cultural afterlife.
Prerequisite
Open to sophomores, juniors, and seniors. For sophomores, English 250 is strongly recommended.
