ART 215 3D ANIMATION & WORLDBUILDING
This course uses 3D as a worldbuilding meta-medium, bridging painting, sculpture, installation, film, games, and coding. Students will explore an "alien world" narrative, gradually creating dynamic scenes and culminating in a fully animated short video. The class focuses on industry-standard tools Maya and Unreal Engine for modeling, animation, and real-time production. The course moves from standalone modeling, texturing, and animating to the creation of virtual spaces and cinematography within them. Emphasis is on creating meaningful art over technical mastery, with support through readings, screenings, and presentations. Students will work at their own pace, with additional tutoring and resources available throughout the semester.
