AHI 233 RENAISSANCE VILLAS AND GARDENS

This course examines the country residences and garden environments created during the Italian Renaissance. Students will explore the period’s cohabitation with and cultivation of nature, follow the transformation of the villa model from working farm to sumptuous estate, and chart the metamorphosis of designed landscapes from unassuming garden plots to opulent spectacles fusing art with nature.
