PHI 330K SPINOZA
Few match the philosophical, political, and religious influence of Spinoza, whose Ethics and Tractatus are two of the giant texts of the 17th century. A straight line may be drawn from Spinoza to and through the Enlightenment, all the way to and through the 21st century. Via close readings of both texts, students will examine his metaphysics, epistemology, political thought, and world-changing critique of key religious concepts.
