HIS 310 AFRICA AND THE UNITED STATES
An examination of the connections between people in Africa and the United States from the 18th century to the present. The class highlights how the histories of these two places have been deeply intertwined through the movement of people of African descent across the Atlantic in both directions, as well as through religion, music, politics, and ideals of pan-Africanism.
Notes
Students will conduct research on the role of Africans in the history of the College and nearby area, which may entail some local travel. Grading will be based largely on self-assessment.
