Words & Pictures: Questions of Identity in Contemporary Graphic Narratives What gives you your unique identity? Is your identity biologically determined or socially constructed, static or dynamic? Does a person have one identity or many identities? How might these identities intersect and complicate each other? This interdisciplinary seminar will focus on the topic of personal and social identity and how graphic literature and other cultural artifacts, such as art and film, use images and words to create and question identity. Readings include a diverse selection of graphic fiction, graphic memoirs, and graphic adaptations.
