ENG 367 NOVEL COMMODITIES
NOVEL COMMODITIES. An exploration of contemporary literature about "things," with a focus on India and the United States. How does literature represent our relations to things—as producers, consumers, collectors, discarders, recyclers? How do things and people circulate in a globalized economy, and what would be an ethical ecology of things? Authors may include Ling Ma, Upton Sinclair, Paule Marshall, Sidney Mintz, Kiran Desai, and Katherine Boo.
