Fictions of Empire: Power and Personhood in Postcolonial Literature
An introduction to colonial, postcolonial, and global Anglophone literature from the late 19th century to the present. Readings include novels, film, short stories, drama, and poetry that approach questions of power and personhood in the context of empire: Joseph Conrad, E. M. Forster, Chinua Achebe, Jean Rhys, Chimamanda Adichie, and others.
