The class will be project-based, drawing on works from all genres of music as inspiration for finding one's creative voice and approach to composing. Topics include sampling, editing in digital audio workstations, mixing, beat making, basic synthesis, and recording. A historical survey of works from experimental music, rock, hip-hop, and sound art will be analyzed as well.
