GWS 277 SEX, GENDER, AND REVOLUTION

Using comparative and transnational methods, this course examines testimonies and theories devised by women and LGBTQ people involved in anti-imperialist and anti-fascist movements, such as those in Cuba, Vietnam, Mexico, South Africa, Iran, and the Philippines. The course explores how  gender and sexual hierarchies fueled affective attachments to revolutionary struggle, how they were challenged, and how they shaped how freedom was imagined.
