ENG 217 WRITING THE SHORT STORY
Students will study and write short fiction. Class time will be devoted to craft-based discussion of model literary texts and to workshopping of student drafts. Topics include the fundamental building blocks of the short story, such as structure, voice, point of view, imagery, scope, scene, and exposition.
Prerequisite
Writing samples must be submitted to the instructor one week prior to preregistration and will constitute the basis for selection of 12 students. Admission by permission of the instructor.
