FYS 1033 INDIGENOUS RESISTANCE/HIP HOP
Indigenous tribes historically defended against their enemies, but Spain’s conquest weaponized religion, race, and gender. Exploring everyday Indigenous resistance in graphic novels, comics, and hip-hop music, the course asks: Whose story is this? How are race, gender, culture, and social class reflected? What do cultural texts reveal in social media?
