FYS 1000 QUILTING: ART, REUSE, PROTEST
Students will design and sew a quilt while studying quilting as art, reuse, political protest, and a facet of poverty worldwide. Topics include the quilts of Gee’s Bend Alabama, the AIDS quilt, sustainability issues of fabric and clothing waste streams, quilting techniques and histories from around the world, and gendered implications of “women’s work.”
