ENG 343 ULYSSES: ORIGINS TO AFTERLIFE

A sustained encounter with of one of the most celebrated, experimental, joyful, and confounding literary works ever written: James Joyce’s Ulysses.  Students will read the novel alongside key source texts (e.g., The Odyssey, Hamlet) and consider its historical impact by attending to its controversial reception and rich cultural afterlife.

Prerequisite

Open to sophomores, juniors, and seniors. For sophomores, ENG 250 is strongly recommended.

Registration Restrictions

Open to juniors and seniors, and to sophomores who have taken ENG 250.
