FRH 410 GENDER IN FRANCOPHONE FILM/LIT
Gender, Power and Identity in Francophone Film & Literature An examination of gender representations in francophone film and literature. Through the examination of artistic productions from various francophone countries (Tunisia, Algeria, Rwanda, Senegal, Mauritius, and Haiti), students will explore French and francophone perspectives on gender/power dynamics and their representation in film and literature. Topics include gender, sexuality, identity, race, history, transculturality, memory, violence, and trauma. This cross-cultural exploration of gender and sexuality provides a site for examining complex issues of power, identity and resistance in the Francophone world. This course will be conducted entirely in French.
