SPA 425 TEACHING SPANISH
Practical skills for the teaching of Spanish in the U.S. and elsewhere, with techniques for fostering a communicative environment, language in context and community engagement. The course analyzes concepts of "Foreign Language" pedagogy, applied linguistics, bilingual education, International Baccalaureate, national standards, learning styles and interest-based education, providing assessment-based and creative activities such as virtual observations and teaching practica in local schools.
Notes
This course will be particularly suited to those working toward teaching certification (State of CT requirement), planning graduate study in Spanish, or will be entering fields where team collaboration, group and individual presentations, critical skills and independent thinking are prized.
This course may be taken at either the 300 or 400 level.
Students may not receive credit for both this course and SPA 325.
Prerequisite
SPA 207 or permission of the instructor.

Enrollment limited to 18 students.
