GOV 493K CONST ISSUES IN SEP OF POWERS

Constitutional Issues in Separation of Powers  Cases and controversies addressing competing powers of the president, Congress, and the courts. Specific issues include foreign policy, use of force, immigration, appointments, regulatory powers, and judicial review. The course requires close reading and discussion of judicial opinions.

Prerequisite

Three courses in Government, including at least one in U.S. politics.

Registration Restrictions

This course is open to juniors and seniors, and to sophomores with permission of the instructor. This course cannot fulfill the requirement of a 400-level course for the Government major if taken in the sophomore year.

Enrollment Limit

Enrollment limited to 16 students.
