FYS 118J THE ART OF TIME

A study of poems, short stories, and films that explore the human experience of time.  Students will examine the problem of mortality, the mysteries of memory, and the way literature and film create moments in time charged with meaning.  Works may include poems by Shakespeare, Marvell, Keats, Buson, Dickinson, Stein, Loy, and Hughes; stories by Chopin, Hemingway, Borges, Dick, and Munro; and the films Memento and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
