FYS 118G NETWORKS AND THEIR APPLICATION
An introduction to networks, which are more generally called graphs, through the study of their many applications. Applications of networks/graphs include visualizing molecules, efficiently routing snowplows and UPS delivery trucks, scheduling courses and NFL games, sequencing traffic lights, representing data in a computer, describing interpersonal relationships through social media, and solving puzzles and games. Students will investigate relevant concepts in graph theory with the goal of using graphs as modeling tools in these and other applications.
