FYS 108W MATTERS OF LIFE AND DEATH

An examination of the complex philosophical questions that arise at the beginning and end of life. Some of these questions concern the nature of life and death: What does human life consist in, and what does it mean to die? Is death something to fear? What is immortality, and would it be a good thing? Other questions will center on ethical issues that concern the creation and termination of human lives. Is abortion ethically permissible? Is it wrong to reproduce? Under what conditions, if any, is it permissible to end human life?
