FYS 108J THE IDEA OF GOD

An examination of the writings of famous philosophical believers, disbelievers, and agnostics. The course considers the varied and evolving ideas of God (and their implications) developed by thinkers from the ancient Greek philosopher Plato to the contemporary biologist Richard Dawkins, with emphasis on the Jewish, Christian, and Islamic traditions. Topics include not merely God but time, causation, free will, and morality.
