ENG 250 THEORY/PRACT OF LITERARY STUDY
An introduction to practical and theoretical questions about the discipline of English and the study of literatures in English. What is distinctive about English as a discipline and how does it intersect with other disciplines and interdisciplinary fields? While continuing to refine the techniques of close reading developed in
ENG 150 (formerly 202), we will consider how some theories of language, text, value, narrative, author, audience, history, culture, psyche, identity, and politics may shape literary study.
