ART 200 PHOTOGRAPHY I
An introductory photography course introducing a broad range of traditional darkroom techniques. The course emphasizes the fundamentals of using a single reflex camera (SLR) including manual exposure and lighting, while exploring the technical, historical, and theoretical underpinnings of traditional silver-based photography. Assignments, lectures, and readings will consider different components of the photograph: Image as Object, Image as Optics, Image as Document, Image as Style, and Image as Narrative.
Notes
Students must provide their own film camera and supplies.
Prerequisite
Any 100-level art course or permission of the instructor.
