ART 108 THE INFINITE SCROLL
A hands-on introductory studio arts course in which students will learn to use smartphones as valid and undervalued artistic tools for capture and as sites of distribution. The Infinite Scroll will be serve as an inspiration as students explore how images, video, sound, and information commingle on electronic devices. Students will produce and edit sound, videos, animations, and still images, as well as explore the theoretical and conceptual underpinnings of contemporary media culture and its outputs through readings, short responses, and discussions. Students will question how they position themselves as media producers and consumers in order to confront the complications of how they consume, create, manipulate, and share media to a never-ending Infinite Scroll.
Notes
This course will initially be open to first-year and sophomore students. It will be open to all students after first-year students have pre-registered.
