The social, economic, political, and cultural transformations of Europe between the Reformation and the French Revolution; the rise of centralized states; developments in agrarian societies; and the growth of commercial capitalism.

HIS 237 may include an optional section that will meet for an additional hour each week to discuss supplemental readings in German. Students participating in the foreign language section will receive one additional credit hour, pass/not passed marking.
