GWS 180 CRITICAL SEXUALITY STUDIES

The course uses theoretical, empirical, and creative frameworks as it examines the social construction of sexuality and how people come to make meaning of their sexuality in their everyday lives. The course approaches sexuality studies through an intersectional lens - that is, students will explore how sexuality is shaped by gender, race, ability, class, nationality, religion, and age. The course considers how history, culture, biology, and biography shape people's sense of sexual subjectivity and weave together in deeply complicated ways.
