FYS 108D VIRTUAL REALITIES IN JAPAN

An examination of the historical discourses of the self within Japanese culture that have operated from the 1970s to the present day.  The course investigates the ways in which Japanese media represent and discuss the body and the self, considering concrete manifestations of these themes in literature, film, television, anime, manga, and video games.
